Heinz

I bought some Heinz bbq sauce last night. I was going to get ketchup but in the same aisle I saw the bbq sauce and I figured, if you can put it in ketchup, it will taste better with bbq sauce. Pasties definitely taste better with it.

I made a bbq pizza because I was still hungry at night.

Gylly was going off

Not really but there were surfable waves and a few guys were ripping it out there.

Calzone

I made one the other day for lunch but it didn't have enough hard foods inside if you know what I mean, so all the sauce and cheese and tomatoes inside slide to the back of the pastry when i tilted it to eat it. I ended up scooping up the inside stuff with a spoon and eating it. It was still dank.

Flat but a Pretty Blur

I feel bad for the peeps that surf newps. It's flat but at least it's 90 degrees fahrenheit in the middle of January.

The Pasty

Today I made my first, second, third and fourth pasty ever. They were all super good and very easy to make. Pasties are handheld pastry things. They're like calzones except filled with Potatoes, Leeks, Onions, Gravy, and Steak. The miners here in Cornwall ate pasties and they'd hold it by the crust. Once they finished eating the pasty they'd throw the crust away since there'd be dirt and soot all over it.

Thanks For Nothing

These guys are from where I live. I've skated with a few of them and they rip. If you have like 40ish minutes to kill, Enjoy!

iCracked

I was using my friends iPod Video as an external hard-drive for the longest time. Now that I have one I can now use it as an iPod Shuffle. Why? The screen is cracked. It's more functional than a Shuffle just because I can see like 4/6 of the screen. It's cool though since it has 30GB's of storage.

Sort It Out

People in the UK say I need to sort out my room. People in the US say I need to clean my room. In a way, you need to do both. I'm not sure which order you'd do it in but you can't just have an unorganized but shiny clean room. So yeah, I need to clean+sort it out.

Room

Hot Freeze

Phil and I had to do a cold but hot sesh at the parking lot by the Maritime Museum since the Falmouth Skatepark isn't lit up at night. Anyways it was pretty fun. I tried learned how to get into a noseblunt onto a curb. I got close a few times but never did it but I realized that skating doesn't have to be super technical. You can do whatever you want by feel. The reason I was trying to get the noseblunt is because it's the same body motion as when you blow out your tail on a surfboard.

Baking

I think I'm getting a bit better at making pizzas. The other night Ben+Joe's mom taught me how to make pasties which is pretty sick. I saw Ratatouille again tonight and man it is an epic movie! If you haven't seen it yet, why not?

Lately I've been thinking about home more than not. I don't have a dying need to be back but it would be nice.

Frozen Surf+Falmouth

First time I've experienced frozen sand. It was cold and my hands were dying but it was all worth it for the one barrel I got. I've never been so stoked in my surfing life. I didn't make it out but it was so epic. When I looked out of it, it's what the perfect barrel looks like in you're head. So sick! Since Austyn is visiting we took him on the tour of Falmouth after the surf sesh.

Pineapple Express

Probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I honestly think it was better than Superbad.(forgive me for getting a watermarked picture)

By the way, you've probably noticed this by now but yeah, this blog isn't one of those blogs that tell you about the newest stuff that nobody knows about. It's pretty much an online journal and sometimes I don't watch movies or listen to albums as soon as they come out.

Monday January 5th 2009 Sesh

Today's one of the best sessions I've had in a while. It wasn't too big, maybe 4ft on the sets. Got a few good turns and barrels.

WALL·E

I just saw the movie and it was pretty epic. 3 out of 3 stars. I think it was pretty original. Giving robots human emotions has been done time and time again but I've never seen it done in the way they did it in WALL·E. I think it's great for families but for couples, it's perfect. I've said this and I'll say it again: Pixar never fails.

New Wave

Here's art with waves portrayed in a way I've never seen before. Waves can always be drawn as huge monsters but in this, it seems like a calm animal with tentacles playing with boats. Kelly Ording is the artist.

Self Sufficient

I was watching Grand Design and there was this guy that lived in a leaky caravan so he wanted to make his own house. The whole house is made out of natural materials from around the forest he built it in. It cost 28,000 pounds. He uses a stream and rain water collector for fresh water. For electricity he uses solar power and wind turbines. For his sewage he has a compost thing happening not that far from the house. So the entire house cost cost under 30,000 pounds and he never has to worry about bills. He's a legend. His first name is Ben, not sure what his last name is but he is awesome. He gives me hope that some day I'll be able to build my own self sufficient home somewhere on a beach with great consistent waves.
Click HERE to check out some of the scoop.

Out but not On

Today the weirdest thing happened. I went for a surf, it was big and heavy, I got out back, and never caught a wave the entire session. In the beginning I went for one and wave just flattened out. It's never happened to me, but yeahh, weird... I guess it's just one of those days.

Spencer Reynolds

This is a wicked artist that creates brilliant work. His scope: waves+surfing. Props to him and his talent.

Move You

I saw Anya Marina twice in London last year. If you watch Grey's Anatomy, her song Miss Halfway was in it in like season 1 or 2 I think. Anyways, if you ever get a chance to see her live, DO IT!

Here's her music video for a song called Move You:

Crikey Mate!

I was watching this Steven Irwin memorial thing on tv two days ago and I was like this guy is so gnarly! I never watched his animal programs as a kid and I just knew about his name and a general idea of what he looks like. It was only after he died I was like man this guy was a good man. The coolest part about him to me was the fact that he was a hardcore surfer.

The animal that scared him the most was the parrot. How sick is that? Hahahah

RIP mate!

Up Your Mood

I know this is probably old new to move of you but if you're ever down, listen to this song or watch this video. If it doesn't up your mood, I don't know what will.

I've only listened to two songs on this album at the moment. Actually I'm listening to the whole thing right now but I'm already going to give it a good review since I know he's gnarly.

Update: So I just finished listening to the whole album and I give 3 out of 3 stars.

My first self made Pizza

PIZAAA

I made the dough and everything. It was a bit too salty or sweet, not sure which but next time I'll definitely add less salt and sugar. Notice how I didn't shoot this with a fisheye? Oh yeah, the pizza was dank.

Ingredients: Plain Flour, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Salt, Sugar, Tomato+Basil Sauce, Tomatoes, Spinach, Water, and Matured Cheddar Cheese.

Brighten Up!

My last few posts have been a little dark in colour so I'm going to post this old illustration I did. It's full of errors but that's okay since it'll be perfect for the job.

Scott Bourne

This guy is a legend.

The reason I know about him is because one day I was at Freeriders surf shop and I asked if I could have some magazines. He pulled out a Huck magazine with Scott Bourne on the cover and Keith told me to read the interview with him. I was like alright I will and what Scott was saying in this magazine just sucked me into his way of thinking.

One thing I thought was really cool about him is how he says technology erases memory. It includes emails, texts, digital pictures, etc. It's ironic since I'm writing an online blog but I totally respect him. He's a skater that became a writer. He uses an old typewriter which is pretty sick. I'm not sure why but it's pretty hard for me to think of things to say about him. I guess the best thing I can do is give you guys a link to an interview with him to get an idea about why I admire him. Here is his INTERVIEW.

Can't Love, Can't Hurt

Super chill music. Totally recommend it. 3 out of 3 stars.

Peace Out Tristan!

I never really knew the kid. I've skated with him once or maybe more, I'm not really sure. He seemed like a cool guy. Makes me realize that you can go at any moment. I have to let go and not hold back.
